DISCOVER THE JOY OF SINGING FOUR-PART BARBERSHOP HARMONY - Aug 03, 2015

The award-winning Cincinnati Sound Chorus is bringing the art of singing a cappella harmony in the barbershop style to Blue Ash this summer.  Through September, this women’s chorus is holding rehearsals in Blue Ash and, during this time, it is reaching out to share music with other singers and music-lovers in the community.

On Monday, August 3, female singers of all ages are invited to discover the joy of singing four-part barbershop harmony.  Come to a special chorus rehearsal starting at 7 pm at the Blue Ash Presbyterian Church (4309 Cooper Road).  Learn the unique challenges of the barbershop style and how to “ring a chord” – and revel in an evening of musical education, singing, and fun.   

On Sunday, August 16, the Cincinnati Sound Chorus will perform a free concert at 3 pm at the Blue Ash Presbyterian Church.  The barbershop style graces all types of music – and the audience will enjoy popular songs, old standards, show tunes, and more in this entertaining program by the chorus and its Sound Effects ensemble and quartets. 

The Cincinnati Sound Chorus is comprised of 65 singers from ages 16 to 80 and from a wide range of backgrounds and musical experience – all connected by a love of singing barbershop harmony.  The group is led by Master Director Lynn Hartmuth and is the proud Fifth Place Medalist in the 2015 Harmony Heartland regional competition among choruses from parts of Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia, Tennessee and Alabama.  The chorus is a member of Sweet Adelines International, the largest women’s singing and vocal music education organization in the world.
