In Barbershop Harmony, a VLQ is a performing group bigger than a quartet but smaller than a chorus. Originally created in the BHS for 6 to 13 singers, many VLQs are now larger, especially in larger choruses, adding flexibility to public performances and increasing opportunities for singers to develop new skills. |

Sound's "Very Large Quartet" Sound Effects will hold auditions at Valley Temple June 7th and 14th from 5:45 to
7:00. Auditioning members can attend one or both rehearsal nights. Formed in 2009 under the direction of Paul Coleman, Sound Effects is an accomplished group of singers comprised of current and past members of Cincinnati Sound. The group performs their own repertoire, as well as a few CSC repertoire songs. Sound Effects is a terrific opportunity to improve your vocal skills and performance techniques outside of our regular Monday night chorus rehearsal setting. Rehearsals are held on the first and third Monday each month from 5:30 to 7:00, and the fourth Thursday of each month from 7:00 to 9:00. Membership commitment is for one full year, and members are expected to attend all rehearsals. There is no additional cost to be a member of this ensemble, and all proceeds from the group's performances go directly to the CSC treasury. Learning tracks for the new audition song will be available on the Members Only pages of the website shortly, or you can request a CD from Lynn Hartmuth (hartmuth1@aol.com) or Nancy Riley (n.riley@fuse.net).
