At the heart of Cincinnati Sound Chorus is our Music Committee—a dedicated team of leaders who help shape the sound, artistic direction, and overall musical excellence of the chorus. Working in close collaboration with the Director and Assistant Directors, the Music Committee ensures that every rehearsal, performance, and musical choice brings out the very best in our singers.
The Role of the Music Committee
The Music Committee is responsible for a wide range of essential functions, including:
-
Selecting repertoire that engages singers and resonates with audiences
-
Coordinating with arrangers and coaches to keep our music dynamic, challenging, and rewarding
-
Planning performance and contest packages that highlight the unique strengths of Cincinnati Sound Chorus
-
Providing singers with learning tools, resources, and guidance to support musical success
-
Upholding the artistic vision of the chorus so that performances are expressive, meaningful, and impactful
Why the Music Committee Matters
The Music Committee ensures that Cincinnati Sound Chorus does more than perform music—we tell stories. Through thoughtful repertoire selection, strategic rehearsal planning, and coordinated coaching, the committee helps transform music from notes on a page into performances that connect emotionally with audiences and create lasting impressions.
Collaboration in Action
The Music Committee works closely with the Management Team, Section Leaders, and Visual Communication Leaders to maintain balance, momentum, and cohesion throughout the chorus. This collaborative approach helps cultivate the distinctive “Cincinnati Sound” that defines who we are.
We are deeply grateful for the time, creativity, and commitment of our Music Committee members. Their leadership plays a vital role in our harmony and our continued artistic growth.
