
Meet Our Director: Jack Johnson πΆβ¨
Jack Johnson has served as the Director of Cincinnati Sound Chorus since August 2020, bringing with him a wealth of talent, vision, and leadership that has guided the chorus to new levels of musical excellence. A highly regarded vocalist, educator, and performer, Jack is known for his dynamic directing style, artistic insight, and deep commitment to the growth of his singers and the chorus as a whole.
In addition to his role with CSC, Jack is proud to serve as the Ziek Family Director of Music & Communications at Temple Sholom in Blue Ash, Ohio, where he helps lead worship, music programming, and community engagement through the arts.
Leadership & Achievements with CSC π
Jack’s tenure has been marked by creativity, competitive success, and community connection. Under his direction:

Cincinnati Sound Chorus has consistently improved its scores at the Harmony Heartland Regional Competition, culminating in a first-place finish in Division AA and first place overall in 2024.

That victory earned CSC a spot at the Sweet Adelines International Competition in Columbus, October 2025, and Jack is preparing the chorus to shine on the international stage.

Jack earned Certified Director status in 2021, advanced to Certified Harmony 500 Director in 2022, and achieved the distinction of Master Director at the 2023 regional competition.

In 2024, the chorus also received the Most Improved Chorus Award.

He launched the annual Yuletide Celebration π, which has quickly become a beloved holiday tradition for both singers and the Cincinnati community.
Education & Background π
Originally from the Cincinnati area, Jack holds a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance and Music Education from Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana. He also studied Vocal Performance at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky, where he began honing his craft as a classical and contemporary vocalist.
Beyond the Chorus π€πΉ
Jack is a passionate educator and multi-instrumentalist. He maintains a thriving private voice and piano studio and has taught music in both public and private school settings across the U.S. and internationally.
He is currently enrolled in the Certified Arrangers Program with Sweet Adelines International and is working on new custom arrangements for the chorus. A dedicated musician, Jack is also an accomplished composer, pianist, guitarist, and vocalist. His latest work, Missa de PanamΓ‘, is completed and awaiting its premiere.
When he’s not leading rehearsals or composing, Jack enjoys musical theatre, traveling, and spending time with his beloved grey tabby, Hemingway πΎ.
